Energy and Sleep

Know when sleep restores energy and when lack of sleep begins to matter.

full game 1.006 · Updated

On this page

Sleeping accelerates game time and restores energy. After about two game days without sleep, the lack of sleep debuff can activate.

Recovery and fatigue

Sleeping advances time quickly. The estimated full energy recovery takes roughly a quarter of a game day. After two game days without sleeping, the debuff is applied. While it is active, half of the energy you spend also increases insanity. A full sleep with the debuff reduces insanity by 20.

Plan your work

Check the energy cost of a craft before a long queue. Energy use can vary with the recipe, perks, and tools; check the recipe index for available details. Sleep can recover energy and move the calendar, which may also affect deliveries and timed logic.

This estimate follows the rules recorded for the full game. Recovery timing and day length have not been checked during play.
