Pulling can advance the catch but raises line tension. Releasing recovers tension while catch progress can move back.
What the meter means
Pulling progress depends on talent, fish behavior, resistance, and other modifiers. Tension rises with resistance and anger. While released, tension recovers according to rod bonus and talent, but progress can fall. Reaching +100 progress wins, −100 lets the fish escape, and 100 tension breaks the line.
Fish vary
The fish table lists fish for the full game. Behavior varies by species and perks, while fishing areas replenish over time. The precise pull rhythm has not been checked, so experiment with short pulls and releases.
This explanation follows the rules recorded for the full game and has not been checked against a recorded catch sequence.
