Storage, Suppliers and Transport

Owning an ingredient does not mean every workstation can use it. Start with the operation and its area: player crafting, local zombie supply, Porter transport and factory conveyors have different checks.
FIND YOUR NEXT CHECK
Which storage path are you using?
Identify the operation before counting materials. Nearby storage, regional supply and conveyor transport are different paths.
YOUR NEXT STEP
What are you trying to supply?
Choose the actual operation, not just the character standing nearby.
ContinueFollow what you observe
Changing an earlier answer clears the later branch. Your observations guide the next check; they do not prove a single cause.
What are you trying to supply?
Choose the actual operation, not just the character standing nearby.
Read all possible checks
- My own crafting: Check ingredients in the eligible storage of your current area and carried inventory. Do not count another region’s chests. Next check
- A local zombie workbench: Check a Supplier assigned in that area, the required local stock and output pickup. Next check
- Transport between regions: Inspect the assigned Porter station’s allowed and enabled items, source stock and destination room.
- A factory machine: Follow the selected recipe’s conveyor input and output connections; ordinary regional storage does not prove the machine is supplied.
- A construction job: Use the target station’s one-time building list and prepare materials to carry. The crafting inventory rule does not prove every build menu uses the same storage.
Where is the missing ingredient?
Only count stock you have confirmed is available to this operation.
Read all possible checks
- In another area: Bring it to the current operation or use a verified transport route. Do not mark it available merely because you own it.
- In a chest in this area: Check whether that container participates in crafting storage; not every container qualifies.
- In my inventory: Compare the exact item and quantity with the selected recipe, then check the other crafting requirements.
- I do not know: Locate the item first. Leave its quantity unknown rather than entering zero.
Does the same recipe run after manual supply and pickup?
Observe the result; this is not proof of a unique cause.

- It resumes: Inspect Supplier assignment, local stock, delivery and pickup before replacing the crafting worker.
- Still stopped: Check the actual queue, tool and mastery requirement with the zombie troubleshooting guide.
- Not tried: Provide the next recipe’s inputs and clear output, then record the result.

Choose the right storage check
| Operation | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| Player crafting | Carried inventory and qualifying crafting storage in the current area. Other regions and nonparticipating containers do not automatically count. |
| Local zombie workbench | Local Supplier assignment, stock for the actual queued recipe, finished-product pickup and space. |
| Porter transport | The route’s item list, enabled items, source-area storage and destination space. |
| Factory | The selected recipe’s input connections, assigned worker, capacity and downstream belt/storage space. |
| Construction | The target building’s separate placement list. Prepare materials to carry rather than assuming crafting storage rules apply. |
Plan what to bring
Read the required amount from your chosen recipe or building list, then enter your own stock counts for one material. Count destination storage only when you have confirmed that this player-crafting operation can use it. This tool does not track transfers or deduct inventory.
Required − carried − confirmed usable destination stock = amount still to bring, with a minimum of zero. For carry-only lists, destination stock is excluded.
These counts last only for this visit. Blank means unknown; enter zero only when you have checked. Use the diagnostic above for zombie and factory supply.
Before making another trip
- Open the exact recipe or building list, not a similarly named item.
- Identify the destination area and what stock it can actually use.
- Count only materials confirmed available for that operation. Leave an unknown amount blank; zero means you checked and have none.
- Copy the preparation list. The planner does not deduct inventory or track transfers performed in the game.
Try the Writing Desk packing list or the Distillation Cube list. For a stopped worker open job-specific checks; for belts use the iron supply line.
